Food To Eat Before You Run

Before I go running, I usually eat half a bowl porridge. I sometimes add a squirt of Lyle’s golden syrup or a banana to my porridge to give me a sugar hit, just before I go out the door.

Below I’ve listed five running foods you can eat before you run, all of them have been tried and tested by me. If you missed it, don’t forget to take a look at my latest YouTube video explaining everything you can eat pre-run.

1 Porridge – The carbs you need to make it to the end of your run.

2 Banana – The best thing you can eat, it’s really good cards and a fantastic source of potassium, you’ll lose potassium when you sweat!

3 Granola – Another alternative to a card fueled running breakfast.

4 Lyle’s Golden Syrup – The sugar hit you’ll need to start the race.

5 Yogurt – High in both carbohydrates and water, Yogurt is a great source of energy.

Back in October 2017, I weighed 18 stone. Since then I’ve lost 6 stone and have run over 7 half and full marathons including the London Marathon! I want to start an online community of runners and “want to be” runners who can share their stories and inspire others. Join me on Twitter @runswithdan, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
